The Ranger is a very popular, general purpose radiation detection instrument used by a variety of industries. It employs a GM pancake detector that is sensitive to alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.
The measurement is presented on a backlit LCD in digital format using large size numbers so theres no confusing analog meter faces and range scales to interpret. The measurement can be set to display either CPM (counts per minute) for contamination measurements or in mR/hr for viewing the exposure rate via a front panel switch. A built-in timer enables counting over a user-input time interval to acquire greater measurement accuracy.
This instrument incorporates a USB connector for interfacing to Observer software that comes with the instrument for collecting data. The Ranger additionally features built in isotope efficiencies, data collection, great sensitivity, and several options including a test plate for measuring swipes.
